Quechua people, producers of Schinus Mollé

The Quechua people of the Sacred Valley (Cuzco - Peru) are the direct descendants of the Incas. They have preserved a great understanding of the stars and the use of plants from the Andean Cordillera. The molle, or "the Tree of Life," is farmed at an altitude of 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) on thousand-year-old artificial terraces near a ceremonial center. AÏNY works with two Quechuan communities for harvesting and producing Schinus Mollé essential oil.
